I want to investigate the relationship between distance and time and speed and time.
equipment :
. pole with 3.18m string attached
. person moving around the circle
. stopwatch
. paper and pen to write results
method
.first we put together our 20 m circle outside
. we set up our person and stopwatch
. start timing person 3 laps, walking, jog then running
. get results
. draw a distance time graph
results :
time (s) | distance (m) |
0 | 0 |
14 | 20 |
24 | 40 |
31 | 60 |
36 | 60 |
lap number | distance (m) | time | laptime | speed |
start | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
lap1 | 20 | 14 | 14 | 1.42 |
lap2 | 40 | 24 | 10 | 1.6 |
lap3 | 60 | 31 | 7 | 1.93 |
finish | 60 | 36 | 5 | 1.71 |
Discussion
Is there a relationship between speed distance and time?
yes there is because distance travelled ,time taken and speed is how far you went.
The change in speed is acceleration
Evolution
This speed time graph is wrong because the lines look like its constant acceleration each time it goes up.
In the experiment ,it only took a few steps before moving/acceleration.
This is what its supposed to look like:
